» Bert Brandsma - Saxophone Virtuoso
Foto Bert Brandsma (born in 1965) is a versatile Saxophone player who also has a reputation as doubler on Clarinet.

He played classical music with many Symphony Orchestra's in the world and toured as guest soloist with name Jazz bands like the Big Chris Barber band. He played more than 250 performances in the Cologne Opera House.

On clarinet he has some fame as a specialist for the (sometimes feared) opening of Rhapsody in Blue , by George Gershwin. Sometimes Brandsma even was hired to play only the first opening bars!

Since 1994, he is leader of the Dixieland Crackerjacks, where he specialises on bass saxophone.

Another activity by Brandsma is being an arranger / composer. His works are in the band books of Bernard Berkhout and the Swing Orchestra, just to mention one.
